ESB: Phase Two!

The next phase of VESSEL’s Ephemera Storytelling Box begins this summer!

Following its presentation in the Gallery at the Centre, the ESB will be spending a stretch this summer at Kathy’s Brew Ha Ha here in scenic Elliot Lake, starting sometime in July. It’s a perfect place to meet some friends, grab a bite and a drink, and explore the story of young romantics Genevieve LeFevre and Jude Nesbitt against the backdrop of Elliot Lake’s founding! (Archival gloves available, as some of the pieces can be quite fragile.)

Where has the Box been these past few months, you might ask? It was with the VESSEL Team, in the process of being digitised! Yes, VESSEL is working on a digital literature version of the Ephemera Storytelling Box, so that everyone can read every piece and explore the full story from anywere across the globe. The digital version of the ESB will launch by the end of summer, so keep an eye here – and on our Facebook page – for further details!

While we currently don’t have an office, feel free to contact us here via our contact page, or at our Facebook page, linked above.

Temporary Office Closure

Due to the partial roof collapse at VESSEL’s home, the Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre, the VESSEL Transmedia Storytelling Lab will be closed until the building is re-opened.

Additionally, sadly, the Gallery at the Centre (where the Ephemera Storytelling Box is currently installed) is also temporarily closed.

We will announce the re-opening of the Lab as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience and your support!

A Virtual Visit to the VESSEL Lab

Pearson Centre, we invite you to this photographic walkthrough of our space, done over the holidays. Stop by RJ’s desk for a coffee and a laugh, check out the Vessel Creative Library and our working space, and even get a glimpse of director Kayt Lackie’s own office!

VESSEL Update, Dec. 8 2018

Things are cooking at the VESSEL office! We are overdue for a proper update. Where should we begin…

How about with this:  We have officially rebranded our office The VESSEL Transmedia Storytelling Lab! This umbrella covers everything we are currently doing: our community art projects, our community education and outreach initiatives, and The VESSEL Project itself. Based out of the 3rd floor of the Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre in Elliot Lake, Ontario, the Vessel Transmedia Storytelling Lab is a hub for creativity, community-driven projects, and digital literacy education in Elliot Lake. Our mission is to explore how media representation can progress community renewal and build civic identity through creative experimentation.

More updates after the jump…

Welcome to the Vessel Transmedia Storytelling Lab!

The VESSEL Transmedia Storytelling Lab is a community initiative that focuses on using new media storytelling to explore the cultures, histories and environment of Elliot Lake and the surrounding area. The initiative investigates how media representation can progress community renewal and build civic identity.
